Will we all soon be paying via the palm of our hand?

Palmki and Twikey want to conquer Europe with contactless palm payment.

If it is up to Twikey and Palmki, from now on, payments will be made anywhere using the palm of the hand. Paying is simply done via a palm scan using infrared technology, which identifies you as a unique user based on 5 million reference points on the inside of your palm. Tickets, drinks, snacks and merchandise purchased, for example, during your visit to a match of your favourite sports club, can be paid easily by holding your palm in front of the infrared scanner.

How it works

"Twikey and Palmki are 2 Lego bricks that fit together perfectly in countless ways and will look different each time. Initially, we want to increase payment convenience at locations that people frequently visit and are familiar with. Think of sports clubs, department stores, universities... There is nothing more annoying than having to search for your member, student, fan or bank card every time you quickly want to grab a drink from the bar," said Twikey CEO Dominique Adriaensens.

"Thanks to the cooperation with Palmki, we link the palm of the hand in the form of a unique code to a recurring payment method. By holding the palm in front of the infrared scanner, you authorise a payment via direct debit, recurring credit card,... at lightning speed. We are constantly looking for ways to improve recurring payments and look forward to integrating Palmki's usability into recurring payments," the CEO concludes.

The solution

Palmki is particularly easy and user-friendly because you no longer have to search for payment cards or badges (you always have your hand with you). The solution is completely contactless and thus hygienic and Covid-safe. You hold your hand in front of the sensor without touching it. Palmki is also super-safe, namely as safe as iris scanning. The error acceptance rate is less than 0.00001% and the false rejection rate of 1 per cent margin is exceptionally low.

Palmki works very fast and is widely applicable in all kinds of sectors such as government, industry, businesses, system integrators, data centres, retail, hospitals, schools, hotels, defence, etc.

Palm payment via Twikey is very comfortable, user-friendly, contactless and extremely secure. The palm scan is transformed into a hashed code that is impossible to trace back to an image of the hand. Major players such as Amazon in the US are also deploying this technology for payments and integrating it into shops. Twikey's payment method is fully secure and certified by the Belgian government.
